Motherboard:

    The motherboard is one of the costliest parts in a PC. It decides which processor, which graphics card, how much RAM, and what type of storage it can support. The motherboard has to be chosen carefully because you cannot put a processor of another generation on it that the motherboard doesn’t support. 

Processor:

    The processor is another pricey part of a PC.  There are many options to choose from based on the power you need from your PC. A quick overview is, if you want a PC for basic needs, go for an i3 processor; if you are looking for high performance, then go for an i7. If you want moderate performance, i5 processors are your best choice. If you want ultra performance, you can go for i9. This is in intel. If you are going for AMD, it is the same. But the name changes are like Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7, and Ryzen 9. There are other complex terms, but we will discuss them in another post.

     In each of the categories, like i3, i5, i7, i9, Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, and Ryzen 9, there are generations. Even if you choose an i9 or Ryzen 9 but buy an older generation processor, your PC will only have low performance compared to new generation processors, even in i5 or Ryzen 5. It might not be true in some cases. But as a rule of thumb, always go for the recent generation processors.

Graphics card: 

    You might not need a graphics card if you are not dealing with a high creative workflow. If you think you might need a graphics card but do not have the budget to buy one now, it is always better to choose a motherboard and processor that will go well with a graphics card in the future.

Power supply:

    This might not seem like an important part. But, when you are building a PC, especially a powerful one, your PC parts need power.  So, if your power supply cannot give the required power. The performance will drop greatly and even shut down or crash. So choose a power supply that is of good quality and can supply enough power.

RAM and storage:

     You might be already familiar with these. In simple terms, have a minimum of 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD, then go for 16GB RAM and an additional secondary hard disk for storage. More than that depends on your requirements and can be upgraded to an extent.
